Kings Dominion Concert

Mr. Webb announced that J.F.’s concert and symphonic bands would compete at the King’s Dominion Band Festival on Saturday, May 13.  (Note:  They won “Most Outstanding High School Band of the Day” with a superior rating!) 

FMS Bands get Superior Rating

Mrs. Jennifer Wilson Berger announced that the combined eighth grade bands of Forest Middle earned straight superior ratings at Kings Dominion.  Congratulations!!!  Mrs. Berger and Mr. Farmer have also been visiting the fifth graders at our local elementary schools in order to encourage their exploration of band instruments and to answer any questions that the students have concerning the band program at FMS. 

Mr. Webb requested permission to progress to the next step in the application process necessary for the Band of America National Band Competition. This prestigious organization accepts only the best 14-16 groups from around the U.S.A. each year.  Acceptance is based on a taped audition.  The competition will be March 15-17, 2007 in Indianapolis. As in previous trips to Orlando and London, the students will need to pay for their transportation, meals, and housing. The audition tape is due to B.O.A. by June 15.  Each school will be notified of its acceptance sometime in August or September.  The J.F. Band Boosters are supportive of this endeavor.
